If you get sorted into a not-Hufflepuff house on Pottermore and then you swap accounts, that just proves how unhufflepuff you are, considering we’re supposed to hard working and loyal.

Whatever, we didn’t want you anyway.

Why do you prefer Hufflepuff ? :)
I’m a big supporter of house unity, so I don’t like saying that one house is better than another. I think it’s really important that the world has a nice mixture of Ravenclaws, Hufflepuffs, Slytherins, and Gryffindors.
We need people who are smart, so that we can advance in technology and medicine and things like that, we need people who are ambitious to help lead us and organise things, and we need people who are brave to look after those who can’t look after themselves.
But we also need Hufflepuffs.
Hufflepuff’s are not merely the extras who don’t fit anywhere else and have no value to society. As The Doctor said “Do you know, in 900 years of time and space, I’ve never met anyone who wasn’t important.”
Hufflepuffs have their own traits, plus the traits of the other houses. We value equality, fair-play, and acceptance, and also hardwork, loyalty, and open-mindedness: Hardwork leads to ambition, loyalty leads to bravery, and open-mindedness leads to learning.
Let’s take a look at some of the Hufflepuff qualities:
Hufflepuff’s are hardworking. When I got depression, I didn’t want to do anything. I wanted to stay in bed and give up on everything and not eat until I starved myself into nothingness and dissapeared. But I didn’t. I got out of bed. I went outside. I did it grudgingly, and sometimes I did nothing more than sit outside in the backyard, curled up on a sun chair. But I didn’t give up. I kept going. I got out of bed everyday [Well… Almost everyday] and I got better. It may sound easy, but anyone who has ever suffered from depression will know how hard it is to just get up out of bed and move on those days. It’s take a fuckload of hardwork. If I didn’t have the ability to work hard and not give up, I’d probably be dead.
Hufflepuff’s are loyal. That doesn’t necessarily mean they’re loyal to the good side, but they are loyal. The will stick with you. Loyalty makes me people strong, if it weren’t for Bellatrix’s mad loyaly to You Know Who, she probably wouldn’t have been the great warrior she was.
Hufflepuff’s value fair play. When Harry fainted in PoA because of the dementors, Cedric wanted a rematch. Even though the Hufflepuffs had won, Cedric didn’t think it was fair and he wanted to give the Gryffindor’s another chance. I think that is a really decent thing of him to do. Again, when Moody tells Cedric how to solve the egg clue, Cedric tells Harry in return for Harry’s tip-off about the dragon. He didn’t have to - he could of kept it to himself, but he didn’t. He payed Harry back, and I love that.
Hufflepuff’s are accepting. The sorting hat says that Helga took the rest - she took the misfits. Helga took the people who don’t always fit in. Those who may not be the top of their class, or the leaders of the world, but they deserve a home none-the-less. Hufflepuff’s don’t shun people because of trivial things like race, or gender, or sexuality. Hufflepuff’s listen to people and find out who they are before making judgement, and they learn things in this way: They learn that everyone deserves equality and fairness. It’s Hufflepuff’s who help start civil rights movements, it’s Hufflepuff’s who fight for the rights of those who can’t fight for themselves.
Hufflepuff’s also have the qualities of the other houses:
Ernie Macmillan is one of the smartest kids in his year, which is undoubtably due to the Hufflepuffs hardwork ethic. Hufflepuff’s work hard, and it may take them a little longer than others to reach their goal, but when the do, they do it brilliantly.
Cedric Diggory is amazing. We see him from Harry’s point of view, and Harry fancies Cedric’s girlfriend, so we don’t always see Cedric in the best light - but out of all the kids who put their name in the cup, Cedric was chosen. This clearly shows ambition, and that he was a pretty awesome kid.
Nymphadora Tonks is incredibly brave. Not only does she became an amazing auror, but like many other Hufflepuff’s, she also fights in The Battle of Hogwarts, Due to their loyalty, I imagine that their were many Hufflepuffs fighting at the BoH. They fought for Hogwarts with pride, I am sure.
So, although I value all the house qualities a ton, I value the Hufflepuff traits the most. I value hardwork, loyalty, fair play, equality, standing up for what’s right, and acceptance of all people regardless of differences. Hufflepuff’s may not be the bravest, smartest, or most likely to win the house cup - but they stand up for what they believe in. I saw a Hufflepuff graphic the other day that said “Speak your mind, even if you voice shakes.” I think that’s a perfect quote for Hufflepuffs. They stand up for those in need, for equality, and for what’s right.
